As friendlies begin, cricket club hopes for successful season

Enjoyable and well contested matches at The Ship Ground against Defan CC from Llanelli and Pak Bristolians, saw half centuries for Josh Slade, Vishal and Luke Davis in the Saturday match, with 85 from Danny Slade and 105 by Marcus Wormwell on Sunday.  Claverham is the final friendly before the league season starts on 6 May.

Newly appointed first team captain Luke Davis leads Thornbury’s side in the West of England Premier 2 Glos/Wilts league, with experienced skippers Greg Mallitte, Richard Hawkins and Derek Davis taking the reigns of the other seniors XI’s.

Thornbury are a GCB Focus Club boasting four Saturday league senior teams, as well as Sunday and midweek fixtures.  It also has a strong youth section (under 9 to under 19 XI’s), and enjoys a close relationship with Gloucestershire.

The club are always on the look out to welcome new members.
