Brownies embark on new Girlguiding adventures
4th Thornbury Brownies are starting the new Girlguiding programme of activities which has been rolled out across the UK.
It aims to keep Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Rangers relevant to girls and young women. It focus’ on six themes, and badges can be achieved in each. The Brownies are starting with ‘Express Yourself’.
The girls are also improving their understanding of engineering. They took part in a Lego workshop where they had to design and make a catapult, with different teams pitched against each other in a competition. They’ll also be taking part in a STEM day with Rainbows and Guides.
Throughout October the Thornbury Brownies worked on their Gromit Unleashed 2 Challenge Badge. They made cheese, created balloon rockets, did some star gazing, and built a rocket out of recycled materials. They hope to have raised over £120.
