St Mary’s Church in Thornbury has opened a bird café as part of their muddy church activities.

Younger members of the congregation made bird feeders using apples, pine cones and seeds. This has been located near a ‘Bug Hotel’ which opened for business recently with the bugs enjoying their new home.

Sarah from the church told the Voice; “We began our session with a lovely walk where we thought about how the birds must get hungry in the winter when there is less food to be found and so when we returned to St. Mary’s we got mucky mixing up a tasty seed selection which we covered pine cones and apples with ready for the birds to enjoy. We all made one to take home for our own garden but also made some feeders together to hang in our Bird Café in the Church yard at St. Mary’s.”

The church will be preparing for Christmas on November 19 with a ‘Muddy Nativity’, using clay and natural resources to build a nativity scene as well as making advent candles to take home.
