NOMINATIONS can be accepted for prestigious awards given each year by Thornbury Town Council to highlight the efforts of young people in helping others.

The deadline is 4pm on Thursday, March 30, with awards to be presented to the winners in three age categories in April.

Run as the Mayor of Thornbury’s Youth Awards, the accolades are given in recognition of youngsters who give their own time to supporting and helping people, charities or projects.

Each winner, to be chosen by a panel of five, will receive a grant of £50 to be put towards the charity or project of their choice.

Those nominated must live within the parish of Thornbury and either belong to an organisation or club in the town or attend school or college locally.

They must also be under 20 on January 1 in the year in which the awards are made.

Nominations can be submitted by schools and colleges, youth organisations and clubs, including church groups.

Forms can either be downloaded from the town council’s website at www.thornburytowncouncil.gov.uk or obtained from the town hall on 01454 412103.
