Fire wrecks barns at Thornbury farm
A FIRE has wrecked two barns at a farm near Thornbury.
Crews from seven fire stations, including the town's retained firefighters, were called to the blaze on Old Gloucester Road, Upper Morton, north east of the town, at about 4.15am today.
It was feared up to six barns could go up in flames but the firefighters, who came from as far away as Portishead and Bristol city centre to tackle the blaze, contained it to two barns.
The barns had been used to store wood chippings.
Avon Fire and Rescue Service said the cause of the blaze was unknown at this stage, although an investigation will take place to establish it.
Motorists driving in the area were being warned to beware of hoses running from Crossways Lane along the main Gloucester Road to the scene of the fire, below.
