Firefighters called in to tackle out-of-control bonfire

THREE fire crews were needed to extinguish an out-of-control bonfire in Pilning.

Avon Fire and Rescue Service was called in shortly after 1pm on May 30 as the fire took hold of piles of pallets and foliage in Northwick Road.

A crew from Thornbury fire station was among those who tackled the blaze and moved 11 gas cylinders to safety.

The fire affected a 200 sq m area used for wood storage.
