Former Tockington Schoolboy makes the GB Judo squad

A former pupil of Tockington Manor School is celebrating after making both the English and British judo squads.

A former pupil of Tockington Manor School is celebrating after making both the English and British judo squads.

Alan England is now in his second year at Nottingham University where he has joined the University Judo squad under the former Olympian James Austin.  

The news came after Alan became the junior British number one after competing in the Welsh Open under 81kg weight category and took gold at the British Junior Championships in Sheffield.

Alan joins Old Tockingtonians Rower Holly Hill, and Cross Country Runner Will Christophi in British squads.   

Stephen Symonds Headmaster at Tockington School said “We are immensely proud of the achievements of all our former pupils, but Alan, Holly and Will are perfect examples of the rewards of an early introduction to competitive sport.”
