AN information roadshow run by housing association Merlin will visit Thornbury to bring residents up to date with plans to refurbish their homes.

Tenants of non-traditional, pre-cast reinforced concrete houses in Thornbury, Alveston and Tytherington are among householders who will see the energy efficiency of their properties improved through the fitting of external wall insulation.

They will be among 144 homes to be improved in the latest phase of a project which so far has seen insulation fitted to more than 500 Merlin homes in South Gloucestershire, making them warmer and cheaper to heat.

All of the homes in the programme were built in the period after the Second World War as a quick solution to the housing crisis but have developed problems such as damp and draughts.

As well as tenants, neighbours of the properties are welcome to go along to the session in the Turnberries community centre, Bath Road, on Tuesday, August 29, from 4pm-6pm.
