PLANS have been drawn up to cut the speed of traffic on Washingpool Hill Road by introducing a 30mph limit.

PLANS have been drawn up to cut the speed of traffic on Washingpool Hill Road by introducing a 30mph limit.

South Gloucestershire Council recently consulted on a 20mph speed limit in the vicinity of Tockington Manor School, which is sited on the road, and during the exercise received comments from local residents about drivers going too fast along the rest of the road.

Requests were made to extend the lower limit further into Tockington village and to its junction with the A38, a move which was investigated by the council.

However, that would involve the introduction of traffic calming measures, which were beyond the remit and funding available for the 20mph speed limit scheme, which will still go ahead in the area of the school.

But further investigation showed it would be possible to implement a 30mph speed limit on the remainder of Washingpool Hill Road, which is now part of another consultation.

Details are available on the council’s website and comments can be received up to October 11.
