Morton Way to become safer

A SIGNAL controlled pedestrian crossing is planned for Morton Way to make it safer for householders on one of Thornbury’s new developments to cross the road.

The puffin crossing is due to be installed between the junctions with Badger Road and Osprey Park to serve the Bloor Homes estate marketed as Thornbury Fields.

Its installation is the result of a planning condition linked to the house building scheme, which has resulted in more people crossing Morton Way.

South Gloucestershire Council is accepting comments on the proposal until Wednesday, November 29.

It said other safety measures, such as cutting the 40mph speed limit on Morton Way to 30mph, were also being considered.
