BERKELEY Show will be held on its new date in June after moving from its traditional August bank holiday place in the calendar.

The popular agricultural show was badly affected by poor weather for two consecutive years, which hit attendance figures and entries, and was not held at all in 2016.

But organisers were determined to keep the show going and decided to move it to Sunday, June 25, for 2017.

A number of new committee members were also taken on and they hope the show, which brings in families from both the surrounding area and further afield, will be a success.

The event will open at 10am, with main ring entertainment starting an hour later and continuing until 4pm.

Highlights include a vintage tractor display, grand parade of prize winning livestock and a visit from the Berkeley Hounds.

Meirion Owen from Carmarthenshire will bring his Quack Pack to the event, using his sheepdogs to herd and move Indian Runner ducks around the ring.

A new attraction will be a village green area, with a local beer and cider celebration tent alongside many local food producers and caterers.

There will also be a second entertainments stage and a kids’ zone to both entertain and educate youngsters.
