News from 4th Thornbury Brownies
4th Thornbury Brownies have taken part in UK Parliament's 'Equalitea's' - an event to celebrate 90 years since the Representation of the People Act 1928, which gave all men and women over 21 the equal right to vote.
We held an evening of discussion around equal rights for men and women and the voting system. Brownies debated whether any jobs were only suitable for certain genders, deciding that any one could do any job they chose and should! They also discussed voting and decided that it should be compulsory to vote. Matthew Riddle, local councillor visited us to explain his role and we were able to ask him questions. We also ate plenty of cake in celebration
