FOUR post graduate students from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama entertained an audience in Thornbury with their classically trained voices.

The opera students were led by Thornbury educated singer Aaron Holmes and accompanied by pianist Emma Cayeux, who is also a graduate of the college.

Their performance in the Cossham Hall included pieces by composers ranging from Mozart to Cole Porter, Gounod, Puccini, Bizet and Offenbach.

Highlights included the mezzo soprano and soprano duet of Cristina Negoescu and Margaret Daly with the Flower Duet from Delibes' Lakmé, as well as Huw Evans' version of the traditional Welsh song Calon Iân to the tune of Down by the Sally Garden.

Aaron Holmes also played Figaro in a version of Largo al factorum from Rossini's Barber of Seville.

They ended the concert with We open in Venice from Cole Porter's Kiss me Kate.

Proceeds from the concert went to phase one of the Armstrong Hall redevelopment project.
