THORNBURY will lose one of its two LloydsPharmacy stores after parent company Celesio UK said it would cease trading in some 190 of the outlets in England.

The High Street branch will go but the store in the St Mary Centre will remain in operation.

Celesio said as part of the process of identifying “commercially unviable” pharmacies for closure, it looked at other community pharmacy provision in the area in order to mitigate the effect on patients as much as possible.

A spokeswoman for LloydsPharmacy said the closure of the Thornbury High Street branch would take place on January 30.
