Police seek driver in nurse's uniform after M5 crash involving pregnant woman and children

POLICE are trying to trace a motorist who drove off after a crash on the M5 which left a pregnant woman in need of medical attention.

The incident happened on Friday February 14 at about 5.20pm on the northbound M5 between Avonmouth and Cribbs Causeway.

An Avon and Somerset police spokesperson said the driver of the other car involved in the crash stopped on the hard shoulder at first but then left the scene before giving any details and did not report being involved.

She is described as being white and in her late 30s, with dark hair in a ponytail and glasses. At the time of the incident she was wearing a navy blue nurse’s or carer’s uniform, with white stripes at the elbow.

The spokesperson said: “The casualty in the other car – a pregnant woman with young children – required medical attention but her injuries were not serious.

“We believe the motorway was quite busy at the time of the incident and are keen to speak to anyone who was driving along that section of the motorway at the time of the incident.

“We would also like anyone who may have dashcam footage of the incident or knows the driver of the vehicle which left the scene, and is believed to have significant front end damage.”

Anyone with information should call 101 and quote incident reference number 5220 037 288.
