Thornbury Volunteer Centre says it’s delighted with the response to its first pop up shop.

People were queuing for the shop to open on its first day.  Staff were busy all day, with most popular items being bric a brac but the shop also sold an antique wooden writing slope and Chinese chess set.

The 1940's cafe was also proved popular and the charity had several new volunteers register after seeing publicity on the day and talking to representatives from different local community organisations who were at the shop throughout the week.

A spokesperson for the centre said: “It has been a fantastic experience and we have fulfilled our aim of raising the profile of volunteering within Thornbury and district as well as raising much needed funds. We are very grateful to everyone who has donated items for sale in the shop and for the help of the St Mary Centre Management team.”
