ARTWORK created by children at Manorbrook Primary School, Thornbury, has been used to decorate a building site’s hoarding in the town.

The mini-beasts which inspired the youngsters have been recreated at the location for a new care home in Midland Way.

Castleoak is building the Grace Care Centre for the Orders of St John Care Trust (OSJCT) and the company asked the school to enter its Ivor Goodsite hoarding design competition.

Children in years one and two were challenged to come up with curriculum-inspired artwork that could be used on the boundary hoarding.

The pupils were then invited to see the end result at the site, where they were shown around and told about the importance of site safety.

Jane Lunn, of OSJCT, also explained about the care home and who will live there when it opens at the end of this year.

The 70-bed centre will provide 24-hour specialist dementia care and will also feature a cafe, craft room, cinema and a hair and beauty salon.
