Rockhampton to host county matches

March 26 2018

Rockhampton’s recent investment in facilities has been rewarded by Gloucestershire County Cricket Club who are to hold 6 matches at the ground.

Gloucesterhire’s second team will play Ireland on 17th April and Scotland A on 6th-8th  August.  They will also host sides from Surrey, Glamorgan, Lancashire and Warwickshire during the season.

Over the winter the club invested in a number of coaching academy programmes. The U17 performance squad included all young cricketers who showed a special talent and could go on to play 1st XI cricket.  These players ranged from 11 to 17 years old.

The programme was designed and delivered by former Gloucestershire coach Andy Stovold and supported by RCC’s ECB qualified coaches.

The club also has a development squad, based on the U11s.  This programme focused on individual players developing their core skills.
