Teenage boy is injured after being knocked down crossing A38

A TEENAGER has been injured after being hit by a car as he crossed the A38 near Thornbury.

Avon and Somerset police say the 14-year-old boy was been taken to hospital following the collision at Whitfield.

The collision happened just before 4pm yesterday, just north of the junction of the A38 with the B4061 Gloucester Road.

A police spokesperson said: "The boy was crossing the road after getting off a bus when he was in collision with a Land Rover Discovery.

"The teenager went to hospital by land ambulance.

"Thankfully his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. His family are aware."

The road was closed while police examined the scene and reopened shortly after 8.30pm.

Officers are asking anyone who witnessed the collision or has any dashcam footage which could help their investigation to call 101, quoting the incident number 5222 097 672 or contact them online.
