Thornbury Tennis Club has presented awards to some of its members for their outstanding performances both on and off the pitch.

Brian Jordan from the club tells Thornbury Voice about those who picked up some silverware:

Adult Ambassador -

Gill Harrison

Gill has raised the bar for social events at the Club. As Social Secretary, she spent many hours and considerable energy organising successful social events. She’s also a valuable member of the Grounds team and spends many hours planting beautiful pots and flower beds. She plays a pretty good game of tennis too!

Junior Ambassador

 Max Pearce

Max is helpful and very likeable, and is a pleasure to coach.  He’s someone the other juniors refer to and has a great attitude to tennis - keen to play and enthusiastic.

Ladies Player of the YearCarole Boulton

During the 2017 season Carole played to a high standard wherever and whenever asked by the captain, and did so willingly and without complaint.  She has played league tennis for the club for many years and has been a great asset for the club.

Men’s Player of the Year Luke Johnson

Luke played for the Men’s second team in the Summer League and was instrumental in helping them gain promotion.  He played more games and secured more wins than any of the other members of this successful team.

Thornbury shines at Open Junior Tournaments

The tennis club is hosting a series of LTA sanctioned Level 5 (County) Open Junior Tournaments.  These are attracting strong entries of talented juniors from across the South West, Wales and the Midlands.  The most recent of these, an Under 12 Boys Tournament, was won by Thornbury’s Fenn Daunton.  He won all his matches and gave a dominant performance in the final to win 4-0, 4-1.
