Thieves blow up cash machine at Thornbury supermarket

A CASH machine was blown up by burglars at a Thornbury town centre supermarket.

The thieves exploded the ATM at the Aldi store in Horseshoe Lane, at the St Mary Shopping Centre, at about 2am today.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the attack or anyone who thinks they may have information relevant to their enquiry, to contact them.

They are also asking for anyone in the area with CCTV who has not yet come forward to contact them.

The amount of money stolen in the raid has not been disclosed.

A police spokesperson said: "At approximately 2am this morning we were called to a supermarket in Thornbury after entry had been forced to Aldi’s store, in Horseshoe Lane.

"Officers discovered the ATM had been attacked and a quantity of cash stolen.

"A crime scene remains in place at the present time and enquiries are ongoing."
