Thornbury end season in style
Thornbury finished their league campaign with a seven-try win over Bideford.

Bideford were confirmed as a relegated side the previous weekend and their players were determined to show they were better than their position in the bottom three suggested. The Devon side had beaten Thornbury at Bideford on the first Saturday of the season.
The pitch was firm for possibly the first time in six months despite a heavy downpour a couple of hours before kick-off.
After a pointless first quarter Thorns got the scoreboard moving on 23 minutes when Sam Evans touched down from a driving lineout. Jake Wood’s conversion went wide.
Thornbury were only ahead for a couple of minutes. Bideford attacked from the restart and good ball retention through a series of drives deep in Thornbury territory eventually created space for centre Harry Jones to score. Shaun East converted to put Bideford ahead.
Bideford went further ahead from the restart when Thornbury were guilty of attempting the miracle offload. The ball was intercepted and after a well-executed counter attack scrum half Richard Allin touched down. East added the extras and trailing 14-5 Thornbury knew they were in a game.
With a few minutes of the half remaining Thornbury scored. They attacked from a scrum and Tom Luke found a half gap through which he surged to score a fine try. The conversion missed but Thornbury were within sight, trailing 14-10.
Thornbury hit the lead with a try scored 65 seconds into the second half, scrum half Harry Glew crashing through a covering tackle to score. Jake Wood converted to put Thorns 17-14 ahead.
