Merlin Housing Society’s scheme involves improving 1,500 of its homes throughout South Gloucestershire.

It is a third of the way through the work, having recently completed its 500th property.

The Chipping Sodbury-based housing association said it had installed new external wall insulation to properties across the area since 2012, resulting in lower energy bills in the winter for householders.

Special projects manager Mark Sherwood said: “Now we’re looking ahead to start work on the next homes to benefit from this work.”

Merlin said that would involve refurbishments to 144 homes, mostly in the Thornbury and Filton areas.
