Thornbury Volunteer Centre
A new Learning Disabilities Social Group is being set-up in Thornbury from May 4th. Its aim is to provide a social network for people with learning disabilities between the ages of 20-40 years.
The group hopes to include activities such as walking, barbecues, trips, craft, creative writing or similar. A volunteer Facilitator is needed to help run the weekly sessions, organise the activities, listen to the ideas of the group, make suggestions and ideas for future meetings and be responsible for the smooth running of the group. This role can be shared with another person or group of people.
Alexandra Way Care Home is seeking activity helpers who are able to give their time to residents’ activities. This may be one to one (jigsaws, crosswords, trips out), in a group running or assisting an activity or even preparing objects and materials for games and events. Whatever you enjoy, there will be something for you to enjoy helping with or a person to enjoy spending time with.
