A pupil at Tockington Manor School has finished in the top ten of the London Mini Marathon, held on the same day as the main race.

Year 8 pupil Dalis Jones came sixth in the under 13 girls race, just behind the British number one.

Dalis led the pack for most of the 3 mile course but was overtaken by strong runners near to the finish line.  She completed the race in 17 minutes 30 seconds, just 29 seconds behind the winner who broke the course record.

Deputy Headmaster Jonathan Jones, who is also Dalis’ dad, said “We are immensely proud of Dalis, she has had a fantastic cross country season and this really is the icing on the cake.”

Dalis is both the Gloucestershire and Gwent League cross country Champion and the National CC Silver Medalist.
