A FIRE and rescue team from Thornbury helped rescue a horse which had become trapped in a lorry in Tytherington.

The crew were joined by colleagues trained in animal rescue from Bristol at the incident in Duck Street.

A vet also attended the scene to sedate the horse, called Slim, before firefighters freed him from the horsebox.

They used cutting equipment to create an access to the vehicle before rescuing Slim from inside using strops. Once freed he was able to stand and was left in the care of the vet.
