Tytherington hit rocks against Thornbury
It’s three years since Tytherington Rocks and Thornbury last met but their recent encounter had exactly the same outcome with Thornbury enjoying a comfortable win.
They got off to the perfect start when man of the match Matt Davis headed home a Jim Brock free kick in the second minute. However Rocks’ response was almost immediate when, 4 minutes later, Joe Mills equalised, his shot on the run giving Kurtis Parkin no chance.
Whilst Thornbury enjoyed the majority of possession, the home side worked hard to close down and often looked dangerous on the break. Rocks keeper Powell saved well from Luke Franklin, but could do nothing to prevent Davis scoring his second after Harry Brock’s great run.
Asher Budd was denied on the half hour mark when his header hit the bar with Powell beaten. However the home keeper then pulled off a number of great saves to prevent Tytherington falling further behind. However Town skipper Pete Fowler steered the ball home from a corner a couple of minutes before the break.
With 15 minutes remaining Thorns sealed the victory when Matt Davis latched on to a through ball steered his shot the keeper for his hat trick.
Thornbury extended the lead 10 minutes later when Harry Brock set up brother Jim to fire home from the edge of the area.
