Violent offender goes on the run from Leyhill Open Prison

POLICE are appealing for sightings of a violent offender who has gone missing from Leyhill open prison.

Paul Easby is serving a sentence for causing grievous bodily harm.

He was last seen at the prison near Thornbury at around 6pm yesterday.

Avon and Somerset police have warned members of the public not to approach the 42-year-old but to call 999 immediately if they see him.

Officers say he is white and 6ft 1in tall, with short brown hair. He is currently clean shaven, although his custody photo shows him with facial hair.

Easby is believed to have been wearing a white t-shirt and black Adidas tracksuit bottoms, with three white stripes down the legs, when he absconded.

He has links to the Plymouth area and police believe he may be travelling there.

A police spokesperson said: "If anyone sees Easby or knows of his whereabouts, we’d ask you not to approach him but to call us immediately on 999."
