Woodland walk to hear the dawn chorus
EARLY risers will hear the dawn chorus in Filnore Woods during a walk to identify and listen to the birds.
A 5am start at the woods, near Thornbury’s leisure centre, will give people the chance to distinguish the birds through their singing - done to defend their territory.
Jerry Dicker, of the Friends of Filnore Woods, said: “We have to be early because once it is daylight, they are busy collecting food for their nestlings and the concert is over.”
The event takes place on Sunday, April 29, and anyone who wants to go along should meet by the field gate on the far side of the leisure centre car park.
