Man exposes himself to teenage girl on Thornbury footpath

A MAN exposed himself to a teenage girl on a Thornbury footpath – the third incident of its kind in the space of two months.

Police are calling on people to dial 999 if they see the man and are increasing patrols in the area.

The latest incident happened at around 5pm on Monday of last week, on a footpath off St Davids Road.

A police spokesperson said: “The girl, who is in her mid-teens, ran to a nearby house and police were called.

“The man was described as being in his late teens and white, wearing black joggers and a navy top.

“Officers were already investigating an incident of a man exposing himself to a primary-school aged girl on the same footpath.”

The previous incident happened at about 3.45pm on October 10 and involved a man who targeted the girl as she walked ahead of a relative and ran off when the adult caught up.

He was described as being in his mid-20s and white, with brown hair. He was wearing a red jacket and dark jogging bottoms.

The first incident involved a man exposing himself in an underpass at nearby Gillingstool, at about 5pm on October 2.

He was described as aged between 20 and 30, and wearing dark jogging bottoms and a striped top.

Police patrols increase

Neighbourhood inspector Stephen Baines said: “These reports are concerning.

“Our priority is keeping the community safe, and you’ll see an increase in uniformed patrols as officers work hard to identify the suspect.

“Please remain alert and report anything suspicious – your information could be vital.

“Call 999 immediately if the offender’s still in the area, or ring 101 with any relevant information.”

Anyone who thinks they can help identify the man should quote the crime reference number 5225 284 819.

Police are also asking people to report areas where they don’t feel safe and inviting women to take part in a scheme called ‘Walk and Talk‘ where they can show officers in person areas that could be improved.
